Apple announced an updated version of its second-generation AirPods Pro truly wireless stereo (TWS) earphones at its “Wonderlust” event on Tuesday. The new model comes with a USB Type-C port, unlike the original model Apple launched in 2022 with a Lightning port. With the iPhone 15 series now equipped with modern USB connectors, Apple says the updated wireless earphones can also be charged by the new smartphones.

Like the second-generation AirPods Pro launched at the company’s “Far Out” event last year, the updated models feature Apple’s latest H2 chip, which supports personalized spatial audio and features user-customizable headsets Tracking and Dolby Atmos support. Since the AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) model with a USB Type-C port has the same specs as last year’s model, it offers the same battery life (up to 30 hours), active noise cancellation (ANC), and Adaptive transparency mode. As a skin test, music playback is paused when the wearer removes the headphones. Apple says each headset has the same IP54 dust and splash resistance rating as previous models.
