Apple to Debut Apple Pencil 3 With Replaceable Tips This Week Instead of Refreshed iPad Models: Report

According to reports, Apple plans to launch new models in the iPad series this week, with the iPad, iPad Air and iPad mini said to be updated. New iPad models may be equipped with newer chipsets, among which the new iPad Air may be equipped with an M2 chip. However, the Cupertino, California-based tech giant appears to be gearing up to launch a new Apple Pencil, according to a new report. Apple is believed to be launching the Apple Pencil 3 soon. The iPhone maker currently sells first- and second-generation Apple Pencils that are compatible with its iPad models.

according to a Report Apple may launch the third-generation Apple Pencil at MacOtakara in Japan this week. The Apple Pencil 3 will reportedly come with a replaceable magnetic tip. Majin Bu, a tipster on X (formerly Twitter), also confirmed this. “My sources report that the new Apple Pencil 3 will feature interchangeable magnetic tips (for drawing, technical drawing, and painting),” the source said in the post.

Apple has not officially announced plans for an iPad update, Apple Pencil or any other devices. However, some reports suggest that the company may launch new iPad models this week. A Report Sources from Supercharged claim that the iPad Air models may be equipped with M2 chips, while the iPad mini currently running Apple’s A15 Bionic may be equipped with an A16 Bionic SoC.

However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said in his weekly newsletter that while Apple is developing new iPad models, they are unlikely to be launched this week. However, if the new report is true, the Apple Pencil 3 may be coming soon.

Earlier this year, Apple reportedly applied for a patent for an optical sensor for its next-generation Apple Pencil that would allow the device to replicate the texture and color of an object’s surface.
