Aptos Labs launches immersive digital experience for ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ with Universal Pictures

Web3 company Aptos Labs is partnering with Universal Pictures to create digital experiences for upcoming movies The Exorcist: The Believer.

The film is set to premiere on October 6, giving horror fans the opportunity to immerse themselves in a digital fan experience powered by the Aptos blockchain.

The film follows Victor Fielding, played by Leslie Odom Jr., as he struggles with his daughter Angela (played by Lidya Jewett) and The story follows her friend Catherine (played by Olivia O’Neill) who becomes involved in supernatural events after disappearing into the woods. Came back three days later and couldn’t remember what happened.

Those who purchase tickets through Fandango will receive a redemption code for a digital experience where they can collect exclusive artwork, watch behind-the-scenes footage and use Exorcist-themed AR filters. Users can also participate to win various prizes.

“Our ultimate goal with Web3 is to create connected digital experiences across all of our platforms,” ​​Greg Reed, vice president of technology at Universal Pictures, said in a statement.

Aptos Labs was founded in 2021 by Mo Shaikh and Avery Ching, who previously worked on Meta’s crypto payment network Diem (formerly “Libra”). The Aptos blockchain is built using a programming language called Move designed by Meta to enhance security and help programmers avoid common mistakes.

The partnership with Universal Pictures is Aptos Labs’ second foray into Hollywood.Earlier this year, the company partnered with NBCUniversal to distribute Nicolas Cage’s “Dracula” movie Renfield. Aptos helped create an online game in which users must find insects in a series of photos based on movie scenes.
