The second patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming, and Larian Studios says it’s a “heavy” patch.in a community update Post on SteamThe developer revealed that the patch will focus on improving performance issues, specifically during the third act, where players reported cutscenes lagging and stuttering while panning the camera. In addition to fixing bugs that prevented the progress of the quest, our companion, the merry Tiefling Karah, will get a new optional ending–one that’s been described as “hot” and “poignant.” The lengthy blog post also touches on some of the redacted content recently discovered by data miners, some of which has now been revealed by mistake.
One such example is the in-game response of the brutal drow Mintara, whose dialogue seems to be heavily cut and feels irrelevant. Larian has now isolated this “very, very stupid” bug that prevented about 1,500 lines of content from firing when necessary, and will release a fix soon. “The game was very responsive, and there were some bugs where some companions weren’t reacting as they should. So it felt like the content wasn’t showing up,” said Larian CEO Swen Vincke. IGNand added that her dialogue was triggered in a previous version – early access I assume – and that further development caused it to be overwhelmed.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Review
The wealth of new information extracted by the data miners has led some to believe that she should have an origin quest – similar to companions such as Astarion or Shadowheart. Wenk assured in the interview that Mintara is only a supporting character, though they might consider doing “something extra” with her once she’s restored. The team also seems to be considering extending Baldur’s Gate 3’s epilogue, which for most players was short and abrupt. According to Larian, the epilogue was drastically cut out of fear that the finale animation would run for too long. The game already has over 174 hours of cutscenes. However, due to popular demand, the team will now expand on it, and we’ll see its first results starting with patch #2, which introduces a new ending for Karah and doesn’t end in pain.
Larian Studios has also added a new “Whispering Friends’ Withers Wardrobe” feature, which allows you to get rid of co-op party members who join your campaign.developer gave up funny ad To that end, it details that you can put any unwanted party members into the wardrobe of our NPC skeleton friends, and they’ll disappear. As for whether Baldur’s Gate 3 will offer physical wardrobes in our camps, or if it spawns when you talk to Withers, only time will tell. In addition to this, Larian is also preparing the option to customize the appearance of the character mid-campaign, although there is no release window yet. With every new patch and update, third-party mods struggle to keep up. So support for customization will be added “at some point”.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is out now on PC. The PS5 version will be released on September 6, while the Xbox Series S/X version is expected to be released sometime this year.
