Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Is Still Coming to PS4 and Xbox One, Will Be a ‘Premium’ Standalone Release

Despite rumors, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will also release on last-gen PS4 and Xbox One consoles. Confusion over the previous-gen launch came when COD content creator TheGamingRevolution tweeted an image from the Microsoft Store that only showed the Xbox Series S/X logo — a big deal for the series. Unprecedented to say the least, but it makes perfect sense considering every major studio is slowly trying to take advantage of newer console hardware. However, since the game’s trailer claims that both generations of PlayStation will be released, it’s not fair to Team Green. As it turns out, this was just a bug in the Microsoft store, which was updated to include the Xbox One.

at present, website Point to the store page for Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, as publisher Activision plans a global reveal on August 17. This will be an in-game event, similar to the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War event and Vanguard, both featured in the original Warzone game. One interesting thing to note here is that on Steam, Modern Warfare 3 is listed as an add-on, not as previous reports claimed it would be a $70 standalone. “Modern Warfare III is a premium edition, as Activision Blizzard has stated on multiple quarterly conference calls. The corresponding pricing is $70,” the publisher told a reliable source Charlie Intel in a prepared statement. The term “add-ons” has to do with how all CoD games will be packaged in the future – they’ll all be accessible in the Call of Duty HQ launcher.

This also matches InsiderGaming report, claiming that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s beta code follows the same “concept ID” as Modern Warfare 2 — essentially “last year’s game code, just re-released.” The central hub will display Call of Duty MW2, MW3, and Warzone on the same menu, making it easier for players to access and enable content inheritance. It’s been confirmed that this year’s game will “carry over” weapons and cosmetics, such as the operators and skins you unlocked in Modern Warfare 2. Players can also expect Modern Warfare 3 content to be baked into the battle royale Warzone experience, while Call of Duty: Mobile has been updated to include shared progress from the mainline game. More details on the latter will be revealed as Warzone Mobile’s launch draws closer.

Previous reports also mentioned that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will have at least two weekends of multiplayer testing, the first of which will be PlayStation-only – running from October 6-10. That may or may not change as Microsoft continues to try to acquire Activision Blizzard for $69 billion (roughly Rs 57,257.1 crore). A second beta weekend is said to take place from October 12-16, with Xbox and PC players also able to participate, and there appear to be plans for an early access event for pre-order customers.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches on November 10 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
