China’s BYD to launch first electric pickup truck this year

BYD has previewed its upcoming electric pickup truck, which the Chinese auto giant says will be launched in 2024.

BYD With plans to launch its first electric pickup truck this year, the Chinese giant steps up its competitiveness with global car companies such as Ford and Tesla.

BYD said in a press release that the mid- to large-sized pickup truck was developed for the global market.

BYD showed photos of the truck, which is painted in orange and blue camouflage with almost no details visible inside or outside the vehicle. The price of the car was not disclosed.

This pickup truck will compete with similar models Ford Ranger and F-150 Lightning toyota Hilux and Tesla Cybertruck.

The pickup truck will enrich the company’s car lineup, starting with the Seagull priced at 69,800 yuan (about $10,000) and ending with the U9 supercar priced at 1.68 million yuan.

BYD does not sell in the United States, the most popular market for pickup trucks, but it has a presence in other popular markets for such vehicles, including Thailand.
