Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin sends M of USDC to Gemini

Blockchain sleuths have zeroed in on a recent transaction from a wallet linked to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, who moved $14.9 million worth of U.S. Dollar Coin (USDC) to cryptocurrency exchange Gemini.

According to a post on X by blockchain analysis company PeckShield on October 17, Buterin’s wallet “Vitalik.eth” transferred $14.93 million to Gemini on October 16.

Separate analysis by crypto data provider Lookonchain found that Buterin also recently transferred nearly $500,000 to Coinbase three days ago.

The price of ether’s native currency, ether (ETH), remained stable following news of the transfer, falling just 0.68% in the past four hours, according to price data from Coingecko.

Buterin’s recent transaction is the latest in a large number of ETH deposits to centralized exchanges over the past few months, with the total amount transferred from Buterin’s wallet in September exceeding $3.9 million.

On September 24, Buterin transferred 400 ETH (worth $600,000 at the time) to Coinbase. Cointelegraph previously reported that on August 21, there was a 600 ETH ($1 million) transaction from the vitalik.eth address, which was also identified by the on-chain monitoring platform.
