A Florida man has been convicted of murder over a dispute over whether his wife should appear together on a home improvement TV show.
David Tronnes was found guilty Wednesday of first-degree murder in the 2018 death of Shanti Cooper-Tronnes. Prosecutors say Shanti Cooper-Tronnes was beaten and strangled in her Orlando home. Tronis was immediately sentenced to life in prison after jurors returned a guilty verdict after nearly five hours of deliberations.
According to prosecutors, Tronnes spent thousands of dollars on home renovations in hopes of appearing on the A&E reality show “Zombie House Flipping,” which is filmed in Orlando. Cooper-Tronnis refused to appear on the show, which upset Tronis and sparked controversy.
According to evidence presented at the trial, Cooper-Tronnis was killed in his bedroom while Tronis tried to clear the scene before police arrived. Trones claimed he found his wife in the bathtub after a day of cleaning and walking the dog.
