Ford reports 7.7% increase in third-quarter sales

Detroit – Ford Motor Company’s In the third quarter, U.S. new car sales increased by 7.7% year-on-year, mainly due to the growth in sales of traditional pickup trucks in its product line.

The Detroit automaker reported on Wednesday that truck sales rose 15.3%, while sedan sales fell 5.1% and SUV sales were essentially flat.

The ongoing UAW strike against Detroit automakers including Ford is not expected to directly impact sales this season.
