Fox News has settled another lawsuit, this time with a producer of former primetime host Tucker Carlson.
this fox corp. The network agreed to pay $12 million to settle a lawsuit brought by Abby Grossberg, who claims she was forced to give false testimony in a defamation case against Dominion Voting Systems.
“While I stand by the claims and allegations I made publicly, I have now withdrawn them in light of today’s $12 million settlement, and I am pleased that Fox News is taking me and my legal claims seriously,” Grossberg said. ” issued a statement on Friday. “Based on our discussions with Fox News today, I hope this resolution represents a positive step forward for the network’s treatment of women and minorities in the workplace.”
Grossberg filed lawsuits against Fox earlier this year in New York and Delaware, accusing the network of discriminatory practices. Grossberg’s attorneys have previously said that Fox fired her out of retaliation.
“I support and respect the claims and allegations that I make publicly, as well as any public statements that I or my attorneys make regarding my work at Fox News,” Grossberg said in a statement on Friday. “I will not, at this time, Make any further comments regarding my work at Fox News and ask that you respect my decision.”
The producer, who has worked with Fox hosts Carlson (who was ousted after Fox settled with Dominion) and Maria Bartiromo, claims the network’s lawyers coerced and intimidated her in the Dominion lawsuit Giving misleading testimony.
The trial was halted in April after Fox said it would pay Dominion $787.5 million to settle a defamation lawsuit over false allegations that Dominion voting machines influenced the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.
Grossberg had earlier said she would voluntarily testify on Dominion’s behalf should a trial take place.
“We are pleased to have resolved this matter without further litigation,” a Fox representative said in a statement Friday.
Fox earlier denied Grossberg’s claims and explained its decision to fire the producer:
“Like most organizations, Fox News attorneys have privileged communications with our employees when necessary to provide legal advice. Last week, our attorneys told Ms. Grosberg that while she was free to raise the issue she wished However, she possesses our privileged information and has no right to disclose it publicly. We are well aware that if she violates our instructions, Fox will take appropriate action, including termination. Ms. Grossberg ignores these communications, and chose to file a complaint rather than take steps to protect those portions of the information containing Fox’s confidential information. We will continue to vigorously defend Fox against Ms. False allegations by employees.”
