Google launched Search Generated Experience (SGE) in India in August, bringing AI-generated responses and snippets to queries on its popular search engine. Generative AI search promises more efficient, engaging results and in-depth overviews. Now, the tech giant is rolling out improvements to its AI search tool in India. Google is making the search generation experience in India more visual and localized for better results. The company announced updates to its AI search in India at the Google for India 2023 event on Thursday.

Google says SGE will now be richer and more intuitive, adding more images and videos to some overviews.
“For example, when you search for something like ‘What are the various ways to hang a sari? ” Google explained in a blog post.
Generative AI search is also becoming more localized, providing users with location-specific responses. Users can learn about a city’s characteristics and explore surrounding activities through SGE. SGE will now include user reviews of places to provide better information.
In addition, Google has simplified access to information about government programs. In the coming weeks, SGE will help Indian users easily navigate and find important information on more than 100 government schemes in healthcare, housing, employment, women’s welfare, agriculture and more. All these and other content on SGE will be available in Hindi and English.
Google has also expanded the capabilities of Google Lens, now allowing people to search for skin conditions that are visually similar to what they observe on their skin. Users can take photos of their skin conditions through Google Lens and get a visual match of relevant information.
