Google Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro with Tensor G3, Android 14, and Upgraded Cameras Launched: Price, Specifications

Google launched its new Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones at the company’s Made by Google 2023 hardware conference on Wednesday. The search giant’s latest smartphone is powered by a Tensor G3 chip, offers up to 256GB of built-in storage, and runs Android 14 out of the box. Both the standard Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro support Google artificial intelligence-powered features, such as photo unblurring and real-time translation, and are promised seven years of software support from Google. These phones apply a lot of artificial intelligence enhancements to the camera and device.

Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro price and availability in India

Pixel 8 is priced in India at Rs. 75,999 and will be available in a single 128GB storage model. The smartphone is available in Ecru, Obsidian, and Rose color options.

Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 Pro is priced at Rs. 1,06,999 for the 128GB storage model. The Pro model is available in Bay, Obsidian, and Porcelain.

The phones are available for purchase through Flipkart. The smartphone will be available for pre-order starting today, October 4.

Google has brought its smartwatch Pixel Watch 2 to India for the first time, priced at Rs. 39,900. All new Pixel devices will be available starting October 12th.

Google Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro specifications and features

The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are dual-SIM smartphones that run Android 14 out of the box. The Pixel 8 has a 6.2-inch Full HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) OLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, while the Pixel 8 Pro has a 6.7-inch Quad-HD (1,344×2,992 pixels) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Both phones are powered by Google’s non-core Tensor G3 chipset and Titan M2 security chip, and come with 8GB (Pixel 8) and 12GB (Pixel 8 Pro) of RAM.

Some of the standout software enhancements include Google’s Best Take, which will help create blended images from a series of photos to get the best look for each person in the photo. There’s also Audio Magic Eraser, which lets you use advanced machine learning to reduce ambient noise, such as crowds or wind. Google also announced Video Enhancement, a feature that enhances recorded videos and will be available to users later this year.

For taking photos and videos, the newly released Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera equipped with a Samsung GN2 sensor with an aperture of af/1.68. Pixel 8 is equipped with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, Sony IMX386 sensor and f/2.2 aperture. On the other hand, the Pixel 8 Pro is equipped with a 64-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens equipped with a Sony IMX787 sensor and an aperture of af/2.8.

The Pro model also features a third 48-megapixel telephoto lens with a Samsung GM5 sensor and af/1.95 aperture. Both phones feature an 11-megapixel lens on the front with f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video chats.

Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro come with up to 256GB of built-in storage. Connectivity options on the phone include Wi-Fi 6E, 5G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. Sensors on the phone include accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, proximity sensor and fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.

Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are equipped with 4,575mAh and 5,050mAh batteries, supporting 27W and 30W wired charging respectively. According to Google, the phones also support wireless charging. The Pixel 8 Pro’s battery charges to 50% in 30 minutes and 100% in 100 minutes, while the regular model takes slightly longer to charge to 50%.
