The Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are likely to launch in the next few months. While there are no official details about the phone yet, images of the phone were reportedly spotted recently on Google’s Google Subscriptions and Services promotions page. However, it appears to have been dropped before we saw it. The phone is said to come in Porcelain White color and feature a triple rear camera setup. At first glance, it looks a lot like its predecessor, the Pixel 7 Pro. Also, it is said to get OS updates for many more years.
An image of the Google Pixel 8 Pro was first spotted on the Google Store website by X (formerly Twitter) user Android Settings (@android_setting), shared on the Weibo platform by Android expert Mishaal Rahman, and then Google removed it from the site . The image displayed on the page shows the smartphone in Porcelain White colorway. At first glance, it looks a lot like last year’s Pixel 7 Pro. However, all three cameras appear to be housed in a pill-shaped camera island, unlike the Pixel 7 Pro, which debuts alongside the regular Pixel 7 in 2022.
Here’s what the Google Pixel 8 Pro looks like in porcelain.
This image is from the Google Store website, which inadvertently posted it early on the promotional page for “Google Subscriptions and Services”.

The image also hints at the presence of another sensor next to the LED flash. However, the low resolution of this image means that it is difficult to discern its essence. Last year, the Pixel 7 Pro introduced a triple rear camera setup that also included a telephoto camera lens that supports optical zoom and Google’s Super Res Zoom feature, which uses both hardware and software to achieve the best possible image quality.
Meanwhile, a report by 9to5Google state Google may increase the number of operating system updates for its upcoming Tensor-based smartphones. According to the publication, the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro may get 5 years of OS updates.
If the details in the report are accurate, Google will surpass Samsung, Oppo, and OnePlus in software support. The companies promise four operating system updates and a year of security updates for some of their smartphones. Google’s older phones are all scheduled to get three operating system updates and two years of security updates.
Earlier reports suggested that the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro may ditch the physical SIM card slot in favor of eSIM. This means that these smartphones may debut in some regions as eSIM-only smartphones, allowing users to connect to the network without having a physical SIM card installed in the phone. Currently, Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models in the US only support eSIM.
