Google Pixel 8 Pro Survives Durability Test, Fares Better Than iPhone 15 Pro Max

The Google Pixel 8 series, including the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, launched earlier this month on October 4. The tech giant’s smartphone is powered by a Tensor G3 chip and runs Android 14 out of the box. The Pro version recently topped the DxOMark display test rankings. Its durability was recently tested, and the Pixel 8 Pro appeared to perform better than most of its peers, including the recently launched iPhone 15 Pro Max.

YouTuber Jack, better known by his channel name JerryRigEverything, recently tested Pixel 8 Pro durability. The smartphone has undergone seven years of damage testing. According to him, this flagship model has the brightest screen Google has ever built and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The smartphone’s power and volume buttons are made from recycled aluminum and can be easily removed with a knife. The side panels of the Pixel 8 Pro have obvious damage from knife scratches.

The YouTuber then put the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Pixel 8 Pro side by side to show the differences in the rear magnetic charging capabilities of the two smartphones. The Google smartphone also has an infrared thermometer placed next to the LED flashlight. It can test body temperature within a 2-inch radius, but does not work on humans.

During a fire test, the smartphone left permanent burn marks 17 seconds after being exposed to flames. However, despite the damage to the screen, the smartphone’s fingerprint scanner still works fine. While the iPhone 15 Pro Max completely failed in the bend test, the Pixel 8 Pro performed well in a show of structural strength with no cracks or breaks.

Recalling the specifications, the Pixel 8 Pro comes with a 6.7-inch Quad-HD (1,344×2,992 pixels) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is equipped with a 5,050mAh battery and supports 30W wired charging.
