The Google Pixel Watch 2 was launched globally on Wednesday. It was launched alongside the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro phones. The Mountain View-based tech giant’s smartwatch has also been introduced in the Indian market. It features several improvements over the previous Pixel Watch model, which launched in October 2022. The newly launched smart wearable device is powered by Qualcomm 5100 SoC and is scheduled to be launched in the country next week.
Google Pixel Watch 2 price, availability in India
Pixel Watch 2 is available in polished silver, matte black and champagne gold aluminum cases with a variety of strap options and is priced in India at Rs. 39,900 for the LTE version. Flipkart currently only offers the LTE version of the watch, which will be available in India starting October 13 through.
Google and Flipkart are also offering Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro customers the opportunity to buy Pixel Watch 2 for Rs. 19,999.
Google Pixel Watch 2 specifications
Pixel Watch 2 is equipped with a 3D curved always-on display with a pixel density of 320ppi and a peak brightness of 1000 nits. The display uses customized Corning Gorilla Glass 5. This smartwatch is powered by Qualcomm 5100 SoC and comes with 2GB RAM and 32GB built-in storage. The watch runs Wear OS 4.0 out of the box.
Pixel Watch 2 comes with multiple sensors such as compass, altimeter, 3-axis accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor, barometer, and magnetometer. Like most other fitness tracking devices, the watch also comes with a blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) monitor, an electrocardiogram monitor, a multi-channel optical heart rate sensor for measuring skin conductance (cEDA) for body response tracking electrical sensors and skin temperature sensors.
In addition to 40 sports modes, Pixel Watch 2 can also provide users with data on health and physical activity, including daily preparation score, sleep score, map active zone minutes, and preparation sleep profile.
Pixel Watch 2 is equipped with a 306mAh battery, which is said to provide up to 24 hours of battery life and an always-on display. Compared with the original Pixel Watch that supported wireless charging, the new Pixel Watch 2 gave up this and chose contact pins instead. Included in the box is a USB Type-C charging cable with four contact pins.
The built-in microphone and speaker, digital crown with tactile feedback, and side buttons are all inherited from the original Pixel Watch. Pixel Watch 2 comes in Wi-Fi and LTE models. Both models come with Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, GPS and NFC connectivity. It is also 5 ATM water resistant. Google claims that the watch’s body weighs 31 grams and is made of 100% recycled aluminum. These straps feature Viton and soft-touch coating.
