Stocks fell on Friday after chip designer Arm (ARM) made a splash with its initial public offering (IPO) on Thursday, sending its stock price up nearly 25%. There wasn’t much work on Friday morning as bond yields rose and U.S. oil prices climbed to $91 a barrel. Investors will focus on next week’s meeting of Federal Reserve policymakers. No rate hike is expected, but after some flashbacks in this week’s inflation report, what happens at the November meeting is more of an open question 2. UAW strike at three major Detroit automakers without results Help improve market sentiment. These actions and their knock-on effects have resulted in the suspension of 15% of U.S. vehicle production. The strike took place in three factories – one in each of the Big Three. Jim Cramer said the impact on Ford’s (F) Bronco plant was a blow, but not as severe as the attack on the F-150 facility. Bank of America believes Ford is close to completing the deal. 3. It looks like Disney (DIS) is making good on CEO Bob Iger’s plan to explore the future of the company’s linear networks. It was reported late Thursday that Disney has held preliminary talks to sell ABC to Nexstar (NXST). Bloomberg later reported that media tycoon Byron Allen had submitted a $10 billion bid to acquire ABC assets. Disney has said it is willing to consider strategic options for its linear business, but no decisions have been made yet.
