HTech to Launch New Handset in India by Year End, Foldable Phone Coming in Early 2024: CEO Madhav Sheth

Huawei’s former subsidiary Honor launched the Honor 90 5G through Madhav Sheth’s HTech in September, marking its return to the Indian market. Now, HTech is looking to expand its product portfolio in India. In a recent media interview, the company’s CEO Madhav Sheth revealed that Honor plans to launch a foldable phone in the first half of next year. He also reportedly said that the next Honor smartphone may be launched by the end of this year.

He added that Honor is in talks with three partners and contracts will be signed soon.

Book-style foldable smartphones such as Honor Magic Vs and Honor Magic V2 are mostly limited to the Chinese market. The launch of Honor’s foldable phone will bring new competition to the likes of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Oppo Find N3 Flip, Google Pixel Fold and Tecno Phantom V Flip in India.

The Honor 90 launched last month marked Honor’s re-entry into the Indian smartphone market after a three-year hiatus. Honor withdrew operations from India in 2020.

It has a triple rear camera unit that includes a 200-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For selfies and video calls, it has a 50-megapixel sensor. It is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery and supports 66W wired fast charging.
