SHANGHAI — Huawei Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou said on Wednesday that commercializing 5G technology was more difficult than she expected.

One of the hopes for 5G connectivity is that, in addition to providing individual consumers with faster cellphone connections, the technology could also better enable self-driving cars and factory automation.

On Wednesday, Meng Wanzhou spoke during a keynote speech at the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai, where she spoke extensively about the benefits of 5G for consumption and the economy.

“But of course, there will be obstacles in any industry, especially traditional industries, they have their own existing ecosystems.”
