The feature will allow cricket fans to watch matches in vertical mode on OTT platforms. Additionally, the streaming giant has updated its Android and iOS apps to include live feed tabs, scorecard tabs, and AI-based video clarity enhancements.
Disney+ Hotstar announced new features for mobile users in a press release issued on Tuesday (October 3). The streaming platform is partnering with ICC to offer the new MaxView feature. This feature will allow users to watch matches in vertical mode (9X14 portrait view), thus facilitating a one-handed viewing experience. Instant push tabs and scorecard tabs will also be available in vertical mode as well as vertical ad formats. Users can take advantage of the single-player game frame in MaxView mode to take a closer look at their favorite players. It will also show a split view.
Additionally, the company claims that the updated Disney+ Hotstar app has been optimized to reduce data usage while ensuring high-quality streaming. The platform has also added AI-based filters on the backend to improve the viewing experience on mobile devices.
Additionally, the OTT platform has also added an always-on cricket scorecard pill. This update will allow users to track live games while accessing other content on the platform. Additionally, Disney+ Hotstar also brings a new content discovery feature called the “Coming Soon” tray. Viewers can use this feature to set reminders for upcoming content. In addition, the platform will separate free and paid content in separate trays by providing a free annotation on the homepage tray.
During the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, the platform will also display “free badges” to help non-subscribing customers discover free content.
