iPhone 15 Plus India Manufacturing to Begin at Foxconn’s Chennai Plant in Q4 2023: Report

The iPhone 15 Plus – a larger version of Apple’s iPhone 15 with a 6.7-inch screen and longer battery life – will reportedly be produced in India soon. The Cupertino company has launched four new phones as part of the iPhone 15 series. Apple already makes the iPhone 15 in India, and the company has been making non-Pro phones in the country for several years, including the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 models – the iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 were discontinued in 2023 and 2022 respectively.

Bloomberg previously reported that the company began producing the regular iPhone 15 at Foxconn’s factory in Chennai weeks before launching the phone.Meanwhile, the Economic Times Report Apple will locally produce the iPhone 15 Plus in India in the next quarter, two anonymous industry executives familiar with the company’s plans said.

According to reports, the company plans to start production of iPhone 15 Plus between October and December, and Foxconn’s assembly plant in Chennai is continuing to produce iPhone 15 models. However, executives told the publication that Apple will still import smartphones assembled in China as production in the country “remains low” in light of India’s upcoming holidays.

Apple iPhone 15 Plus price in India starts from Rs. The 128GB storage model is priced at $89,900, while the phone is also available in 256GB and 512GB storage models. The phone is available in black, blue, green, pink and yellow and will be launched in India on September 22.

Like the regular iPhone 15 models, the iPhone 15 Plus is powered by Apple’s A16 Bionic chip, the same chip used in last year’s iPhone 14 Pro. Two other features on this year’s non-Pro models are a dynamic island (which sits atop the phone’s 6.7-inch OLED display) and a high-resolution 48-megapixel camera.

Other specs on the iPhone 15 Plus include a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a USB Type-C port instead of Apple’s 10-year-old Lightning connector. The company also takes the environmental impact of its products very seriously, saying both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus use 75% recycled aluminum in their bodies and, for the first time, 100% recycled cobalt in their batteries.
