ISRO on Friday released a set of images of the moon captured by cameras on the landing module of the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft. The images, taken after the lander module separated from the spacecraft’s propulsion module on Thursday, show craters on the lunar surface labeled “Fabry,” “Giordano Bruno,” and ” Harkhebi J”.
The country’s space agency shared on X (formerly Twitter) images taken by the Lander’s Position Detection Camera (LPDC) on August 15, and images from the Lander’s Imager (LI) Camera-1 on August 17. Like — just after the lander separates the lander module that propels the module.
The lander module, consisting of a lander (Vikram) and a rover (Pragyan), will descend to orbit closer to the lunar surface on Friday for a soft landing at the lunar south pole on Aug. 23.
Meanwhile, Chandrayaan-3’s lander module has successfully performed a decompression (deceleration) maneuver to bring it closer to the moon and its health is normal, the Indian Space Research Organization said on Friday.
The lander module, consisting of the lander (Vikram) and the lunar rover (Pragyan), will undergo a second decompression maneuver on August 20, lowering it to an orbit closer to the lunar surface.
ISRO stated at around 0200 hours on August 20, 2023, “The health of the lander module (LM) is normal. The LM successfully performed a deboost maneuver, reducing its orbit to 113 km x 157 km. The second The first deboost operation is scheduled to take place around 0200 hours on August 20, 2023.” Post on X.
