
Meta smart glasses in partnership with Ray-Ban were launched on Wednesday alongside the Meta Quest 3 and other products. Users can use smart glasses to live stream videos to Facebook and Instagram, hands-free. The frame is equipped with a 12-megapixel camera sensor and LED unit. This smart wearable device continues the story of Ray-Ban, whose first smart glasses were released in September 2021. However, unlike AR/VR headsets, Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses do not come with a display unit.
Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses with standard lenses start at $299 (approx. Rs. 24,999), while polarized and transitional lenses are priced at $329 (approx. Rs. 27,400) and $379 (approx. Rs. 31,500) respectively. It offers 150 different customized frame and lens design combinations.
Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses currently usable Pre-orders are now available in 15 countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia and European markets. The smart glasses will go on sale in these regions on October 17. Meta is yet to reveal the launch date of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in India.
A 12-megapixel sensor and an LED light (which doubles as a recording indicator) are placed in two circular cutouts on both sides of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses frame. Users can use the camera to capture photos with a resolution of 3,024 x 4,032 pixels and 1080p videos of up to 60 seconds. Through the Meta View application, users can share these media files to any other image/video sharing application.
Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses also support first-person live broadcast, and users can instantly transmit whatever they see with the glasses to their respective Instagram and Facebook profiles. Users can also use the “Hey Meta” prompt to enable hands-free functionality.
The company claims that although the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses don’t come with a display, the dual open-ear speakers in the new glasses reduce audio leakage compared to the Ray-Ban Stories, and are said to deliver up to 50% louder sound and deeper bass. , higher definition.
Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 platform SoC and come with 32GB of built-in storage. Meta claims the glasses have a sleeker design than previous models and says the glasses have up to 4 hours of battery life, plus an additional 32 hours with the charging case. A full charge is said to take 75 minutes. The glasses also have an IPX4 rating.
