Solana wallet provider Solflare has integrated MetaMask Snap, allowing MetaMask users to manage their Solana portfolio directly from the popular crypto wallet.
The Solana (SOL) wallet provider is “easing barriers to entry and usage of the Solana blockchain” with a new integration, according to an announcement sent to Cointelegraph. Solflare uses an extension called MetaMask Snaps to allow MetaMask users to interact with various decentralized applications (DApps) within the Solana ecosystem.
Solflare co-founder Filip Dragoslavic said the “friction” of installing a new wallet has “prevented many potential Solana users” from entering the ecosystem. “This integration could be a game changer, introducing the largest user base in Web3 to try Solana and see for themselves,” Dragoslavic added.
This feature is made possible through a partnership with MetaMask Snaps, a way to extend the functionality of popular Web3 wallets. Christian Montoya, product lead at MetaMask Snaps, commented on the integration and said that allowing MetaMask users to join Solana DApps is a big step towards a “more seamless user experience.”

The highly anticipated MetaMask Snap is designed to allow users to interact with a variety of different blockchain networks. In a recent interview with Cointelegraph at Korea Blockchain Week, ConsenSys head of strategy Simon Morris described Snaps as MetaMask’s “Apple App Store,” allowing third-party developers to launch DApps called “Snaps.”

In addition, this feature also allows users to manage SOL, Solana library tokens and non-fungible tokens through MetaMask. The announcement highlights that it allows existing MetaMask users to integrate wallets on Ethereum and other Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains with the Solana blockchain.
Since Solana has a different infrastructure, a Solana-specific wallet, such as Solflare, is required to access the ecosystem. However, with new functionality, users will be able to manage interactions with Solana through MetaMask.
To connect with Solana, MetaMask users need to visit Solflare’s website or connect their wallet to any Solana application. Once the installation process is complete, users will be able to bridge their EVM assets to Solana.
