Ola Electric launched its new entry-level electric scooter S1X on Tuesday, with a starting price of Rs 79,999, accelerating its challenge to traditional motor counterparts.
The company also showed off four electric motorcycles that will be launched by the end of 2024.
The new S1X electric scooter comes in three variants: S1X (with 2KWh battery), S1X (with 3KWh battery) and S1X+ (also with 3KWh battery, but with more interconnected capabilities) Krishnagiri (Tamil Nadu) factory.
The S1X with a 2KWh battery model has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 100. It will be priced at Rs 79,999 for the first week and Rs 89,999 thereafter, he said.
Pre-orders will start immediately and deliveries will begin in December, Aggarwal said, adding that the entry-level electric scooter is aimed at commuting around 10 to 20 kilometers per day.
The S1X model with a 3KWh battery has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 100. It will be priced at Rs 89,999 for the first week and after that it will be priced at Rs. 99,999.
The model is available for pre-order immediately and deliveries will begin in December, he said.
The S1X+ was also launched at an introductory price of Rs 100. It will be priced at Rs 99,999 for the first week and after that it will be priced at Rs. 1,09,999. Customers can pre-order the model immediately, and deliveries will be made by the end of September, he said.
Aggarwal said the S1X and S1X+ differ in terms of software and connectivity features.
The S1X has a cruising range of 151 kilometers on a single charge and a top speed of 90 kilometers per hour.
“Together, these scooters represent the end of the ICE era of scooters,” he claimed, emphasizing the cost advantage of owning an electric scooter over ICE scooters.
Agarwal said in a statement: “We are working rapidly with a clear vision to support the country’s leadership in electrification. By developing core technologies in-house and employing economies of scale, localized supply chains and manufacturing engineering , we will ensure full price parity between internal combustion engine vehicles and electric vehicles.” Ola Electric has also launched the second-generation S1Pro, priced at Rs. 1,47,499 (ex-showroom). While pre-orders are available immediately, deliveries will begin in mid-September.
With the launch of the new scooters, Ola Electric’s portfolio includes S1X (2khw), S1X, S1X+, S1Air and S1 Pro priced between Rs 100. 89,999 Rs. 147,000.
Ola Electric also showcased four of its electric motorcycles – Diamondhead, Adventure, Roadster and Cruiser – at the event.
“I am also pleased to announce the global debut of Ola’s electric motorcycles by the end of 2024. Designed and manufactured in-house, these motorcycles represent Ola’s leap into the future of motorcycles,” said Aggarwal.
These bikes will be manufactured in India and sold around the world, he added.
The company has also rolled out the MoveOS4 update with over 100 enhancements and over 20 new features including Ola Maps, Hill Descent, Find My Scooter, Geo and Time Fence.
