In a prepared statement emailed to Gadgets 360 on Tuesday, a OnePlus spokesperson confirmed that OnePlus Open will come pre-installed with third-party apps out of the box. “OnePlus prioritizes delivering a fast, smooth, and hassle-free customer experience. To launch OnePlus Open, we worked closely with various mainstream app developers to ensure their apps were compatible with our new foldable design, enhancing user experience,” the spokesman said.
OnePlus said Facebook, a mobile app widely used in its target market, is one of the apps it will install on the upcoming OnePlus Open. Back in 2020, OnePlus said that starting with the OnePlus 8T, its smartphones would no longer have the Facebook app pre-installed due to user backlash.
The smartphone maker said that in order to provide the best user experience, the OnePlus Open will come with a “small number” of apps pre-installed. However, apart from the Facebook app, OnePlus has not yet provided a list of third-party apps optimized for OnePlus Open smartphones.
It’s unclear whether the Facebook app or other third-party apps that OnePlus will pre-install on the upcoming OnePlus Open can be deactivated or uninstalled by users. The company has not revealed whether these specially optimized apps will receive the same updates as other smartphones with the same apps installed through the Google Play Store.
