OnePlus smartphone users in India affected by the green line display issue have now received some relief. The Chinese smartphone brand has announced a lifetime screen warranty for its affected phones in the country. In this way, users can replace the screen of their OnePlus smartphones for free, and can replace the screen multiple times under certain conditions. The company’s latest move comes after some users were outraged by the OxygenOS 13 stable update, which allegedly caused green lines to appear on the display of OnePlus phones. Affected phones include the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9R, which are compatible with the OxygenOS 13 update.
Over the past few months, several OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 9 series smartphone users on Reddit, Twitter, and the OnePlus community forums have complained about green lines appearing on their phones’ OLED panels after installing the OxygenOS 13.1 update. Multiple affected users said that rebooting or downgrading to an older version did not help resolve the issue. The Android 13-based firmware is said to contain dozens of bugs.
In response to the incident, OnePlus said in a press statement to Gadgets 360 that it is aware of the issue on some OnePlus devices and will provide “a lifetime screen warranty for all affected devices.”
A statement shared with Gadgets 360 by a OnePlus spokesperson on Friday, August 11 said: “We are aware of the inconvenience this issue has caused affected users and we apologize for it. In line with our steadfast As promised, we encourage users to go to the nearest OnePlus service center for device diagnosis, and we will provide a free screen replacement service for all devices affected by this condition.On select OnePlus 8 and 9 series devices, we also provide coupons for users supply”
The warranty program is available for OnePlus phones purchased in India.
In addition to the screen warranty, OnePlus is also offering discounts on phone upgrades.According to an announcement from the OnePlus Exclusive Service Center in India spotted by a Telegram user @doncok63 (pass Android Authority), which is offering discount coupons to OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9R owners with green line glitches. The coupon can be used to buy new OnePlus smartphones, but only for online purchases.
