Investigators have identified several people in connection with the case fatal stabbing A leader of a Detroit synagogue has been arrested two days after the woman’s death, but no one can be publicly announced as a primary suspect, police said Monday.
Commissioner James White invited reporters for an update on the investigation, but he did not reveal any new details and declined to disclose Samantha Wall’s contact with anyone involved.
“We have to be very, very careful about the information we share,” White said. “This case has very complex details that, if revealed, could really undermine what we are trying to achieve.
“There are facts that only our suspects know,” he said.
Wall, 40, is president of the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue. The chief said she attended a wedding on Friday night and left around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
White said she was stabbed inside her home and then went outside where she collapsed and died. Her home is on the east side of downtown.
The 911 call came in around 6:30 a.m.
“We have a lot of interest,” the official said. “We just haven’t named one of them a suspect, but we’re working on it.”
White reiterates Wall’s death does not appear to be the result of anti-Semitism. She has worked for U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin and on the political campaigns of attorney Dana Nessel, both Democrats.
About 1,000 people attended Wall’s funeral Sunday at Oak Park Hebrew Memorial Church.
