Barcelona and the Rolling Stones teamed up for Saturday’s El Clasico football match against Real Madrid when Mick Jagger turned up to see the home team wearing a special jersey featuring his legendary rock band’s iconic logo. And then Beatles fans had the last laugh.
Jagger and Rolling Stones member Ronnie Wood attended the Stadio Olimpico in Co. Luiz, where Barcelona will play this season while the Camp Nou stadium is being remodeled.
Barcelona players wore special jerseys with the Rolling Stones’ “Hot Lips” logo during the game, instead of their normal shirt sponsors. The shirts are also on sale.
Additionally, before kick-off, Barcelona displayed a burgundy and blue mosaic and a giant Rolling Stones logo.
Jude Bellingham scored twice, including an injury-time strike, as Madrid came from behind to win 2-1 to win the Spanish league.
After the game, Real shamelessly posted a picture of Bellingham on X (formerly known as Twitter) with the message “The Beatles have always been my favorite band.”
At home games in Madrid, fans celebrated Bellingham’s goal by singing The Beatles’ “Hey Jude.”
Barcelona, which has a sponsorship deal with audio streaming service Spotify, wore special shirts with the logos of Spanish pop star Rosalía and Canadian rapper Drake in the recent El Clásico.
The “El Clasico” match between Spain’s top teams is a must-see football match in Spain and abroad.
