Samsung may soon bring foldable tablets and laptops to market. After launching five series of foldable smartphones, they are working on technology to integrate foldable functions into more electronic products, a company executive confirmed. Most recently, the company unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Flip 5 at its second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year. The phones were launched alongside the Galaxy Tab S9 series, which includes the base, Plus, and Ultra variants.
TM Roh, Head of Samsung Mobile Experience Business, confirmed in a statement interview According to The Independent, the South Korean tech giant may have plans to launch foldable tablets and laptops in the future. Roh said he was confident that since tablets are already a popular product category, foldable versions of them will also do well in the market. Humans have always “opened a book to read and a notebook to write something,” he explained.
Like a book or notebook, foldable smartphones are easier to store when not in use or to carry in transit, Roh explained, while still keeping all necessary information safe. Likewise, he claims, the company is considering bringing similar technology to tablets and laptops, and is also making the necessary investments to make those ideas a reality. However, Samsung executives did not provide a clear timetable for launching these products.
The Galaxy Tab S9 series models are powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. These tablets run Android 13 out of the box. The base model features an 11-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display and packs an 8,400mAh battery, while the plus and ultra models feature 12.4-inch and 14.6-inch displays and 10,090mAh and 11,200mAh batteries, respectively.
