Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Trailer Promises Vibrant Battles, Complicated Love Triangle, More

Netflix’s new animated series Pilgrim Scott Takes Off has just released a trailer, promising a vibrant, stylized affair that reimagines the classic Battle of the Exes story. While the art style borrows heavily from Bryan Lee O’Malley’s original graphic novel series, its cast is drawn from Edgar Wright’s 2010 live-action film.As such, it forms a full-circle moment, although the animated format allowed co-writer BenDavid Grabinski to take an ambitious leap – one that could have been spend more Avatar would be better if Netflix accurately reinterpreted the comics in live-action form. “Pilgrim Scott” animation will be released on November 17th.

The trailer for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off begins with the 23-year-old bassist of the band Sex Bob-Omb (Michael Cera) having a dream about Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Wince) Ted), a rebellious delivery girl he recently met and fell in love with. Fascinating. She’s the new girl in town, having just moved to Canada from a busy life in New York City, and immediately catches Scott’s attention at a party. “Hey, do you want to hang out?” he asked her, his boots shaking, but he got a polite “yes.”What he doesn’t know is that Ramona has seven evil exes, and he must defeat them in different face-offs – from a video game arcade arena to a musical face-off – in order to actually Date her.

As mentioned before, the entire cast of the live-action film is back, starting with Satya Bhabha as Ramona’s first ex-boyfriend, Hollywood actor Matthew Patel Lucas Lee (Chris Evans), powerful vegetarian Todd Ingram (Brandon Routh), ninja Roxy (Mae Whitman) and more. Meanwhile, Scott must also deal with the aftermath of his recent breakup with Chow Dao (Ellen Wong), who is determined to win Scott back by defeating Ramona in a fight. In addition, his sister Stacey (Anna Kendrick) and annoying former classmate Julie Powers (Aubrey Plaza) also cast disapproving glances at him and judgmental comments. Netflix posted a clip From last month’s Scott Pilgrim cartoon, the latter is seen strictly forbidding him from going after Ramona. There seems to be some history between the two and I hope that’s explored in the show.

While this clip doesn’t reflect the entire eight-episode-long show, I found the dialogue delivery to be very jarring, with a lack of flow that suggests the actors may not have been in the same room/studio during the recording process. Wright, who directed “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” returns as executive producer of the animation. “Fortunately, scott pilgrim The cast became a tight-knit family and formed lifelong friendships. ” he said in a prepared statement. “To this day, there’s still a group email with all the cast members, and it’s been that way since 2010. I’m excited to be able to break the news to everyone that we finally figured out a way to continue the adventure.”

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is produced by Science SARU, a Japanese animation studio known for taking the traditional art of painting and digitizing it. Some of their notable works include Devilman Crybaby and Japan Sinks: 2020, both of which feature extremely rough lines and bizarre body proportions. With this new project, however, the team appears to be sticking to O’Malley’s original vision.

“Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” will be available on Netflix on November 17th.
