Sharp Aquos Sense 8 was launched in Japan on Wednesday. The smartphone is available in a single storage variant and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. The phone runs on Android 13 and is equipped with dual rear cameras. There are three color options to choose from, and ahead of the launch of the Aquos Sense 8 series earlier this year, Sharp launched the Aquos R8 series with base and Pro models, which feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and dual rear camera units.

Aquos Sense 8 features a 6.1-inch Full HD+ (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) IGZO OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 1,300 nits brightness. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 mobile platform SoC, equipped with 6GB RAM and 128GB built-in storage, which can be expanded to 1TB via microSD card. It runs Android 13 out of the box. The company promises three major operating system updates and five years of security patches.

In the camera department, the Aquos Sense 8’s dual rear camera unit includes a 50-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens. The front camera is equipped with another 8-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls.

The Aquos Sense 8 comes with a 5,000mAh battery that is said to offer up to 10 hours of battery life. The phone supports 5G, Wi-Fi 5, NFC and Bluetooth 5.1 connections. For security, there is a fingerprint sensor mounted on the side of the phone. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone has an IP68 rating and MIL-STD-810G certification.
