tesla Plans to install 20,000 EV charging stations in 2,000 cities hilton The companies said on Thursday that starting next year they will develop properties in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

For Tesla, adding a wall connector is another way to increase mass adoption by providing more convenient charging locations. The company’s universal wall connector can charge any North American model, not just Tesla vehicles. For Hilton, it’s important to meet the needs of both leisure and business travelers.

Matt Schuyler, Hilton’s chief brand officer, told CNBC: “We’ve seen a dramatic increase in EV charging requests. We’re working hard to keep up with our guests through our new deal with Tesla.”

The announcement coincides with the start of the business travel season, with more executives expected to attend conferences such as the APEC summit, Communacopia and Dreamforce, offering hotel operators opportunities to boost revenue. U.S. hotel prices have dropped this summer as more Americans head overseas to enjoy their time in Europe. This fall, Wall Street analysts will want to see if hotel brands can restore U.S. business travel bookings to pre-pandemic levels.

The availability of electric vehicle charging stations plays a big role in driving hotel bookings, Schuyler said.

“The number one searched attribute for our hotel is the shuttle to the airport. That’s number one. The number two is electric vehicle charging. That’s a huge change that wasn’t even noticed a few years ago,” Skye said. Le said.

Hilton will work with its owners to identify properties along roadways and other major urban locations that make the most sense for Tesla to install charging stations. These additions will make Hilton’s fee-paying network the largest in the hotel industry, the company said.

Deepwater Asset Management analyst Gene Munster predicts that the adoption rate of electric vehicles in the United States will increase steadily in the next few years, from 2% in 2020 to 22% in 2025.
