Vivo S Flip, Vivo V Flip Could Be in the Works; EUIPO Trademark Filings Suggest

The Vivo X Flip, powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, debuted in China alongside the Vivo X Fold 2 in April this year. Now, the Chinese smartphone brand is reportedly considering adding a new clamshell-style foldable smartphone to its portfolio. Ahead of the official confirmation, two phones named Vivo V Flip and Vivo S Flip have been spotted on the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) website. The upcoming phone could be a direct competitor to the Galaxy Z Flip 5. However, it’s unclear whether the foldable phone will debut this year.

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has applied for the Vivo S Flip and Vivo V Flip trademarks at EUIPO. As the name suggests, the company is developing a new clamshell-style foldable smartphone. The application was filed on August 8 with application numbers 018911298 (Vivo S Flip) and 018911204 (Vivo V Flip). Currently, there is no other information about the flip phone, and it is unclear whether Vivo S Flip and Vivo V Flip will be the names of these phones when they become official.

Launched in April, the Vivo X Flip was the company’s first attempt at a clamshell-style foldable phone. The phone is currently available in the Chinese market with a starting price of RMB 5,999 (approximately Rs. 71,600) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model.

Vivo X Flip features a 6.74-inch Full HD+ (1,080×2,520) AMOLED in-display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Its exterior is equipped with a 3-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 682 x 422 pixels. The phone is powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB UFS3.1 internal storage. It has a dual rear camera unit that includes a 50-megapixel primary lens and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. There is a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the front. It is equipped with a 4,400mAh battery and supports 44W fast charging.
