WhatsApp has started rolling out a new feature to beta testers that allows multiple accounts to be added to the popular messaging app. Currently, users who want to add a second account on their smartphones must install a clone of WhatsApp, a feature available on some Android smartphones. Instead, the new multi-account feature added in the latest beta features an account switcher to switch between the main account tied to the smartphone and other WhatsApp accounts.
according to a Report WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, the messaging service owned by Meta, recently rolled out a new beta version with the multi-account feature to testers. It is currently limited to a limited number of beta testers who have updated to WhatsApp beta version 2.23.17.8 for Android, and may roll out to more users in the coming weeks. Gadgets 360 was unable to test the feature on the latest beta, and it appears to be enabled via a server-side switch.

When the feature is enabled, WhatsApp will display a small down arrow icon next to the QR code in the settings menu.A card will pop up showing the master account and add account button. You can click this button to add accounts registered on other devices, and the recent messages will be synced to your phone.
Screenshots of the feature shared by WABetaInfo also show that the pop-up card (which also doubles as an account switcher) will display the phone number that the WhatsApp account is registered with, which means users will be able to easily distinguish the account and username through the profile photo. The feature was previously spotted in development in June.
WhatsApp previously introduced “companion mode”, the ability to set up an iPhone or Android smartphone as a secondary device, meaning you can use the same account on multiple devices. However, users are currently limited to one account on one device. Some Android smartphones (such as Samsung) allow you to “clone” WhatsApp, which allows you to add a second account on the smartphone.
According to feature tracker, with the multi-account feature available to some beta testers, users can more easily access personal chats and work conversations (assuming they have separate accounts), while notifications and conversations will be displayed separately. .
