WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new text formatting tool that could benefit coders, programmers, and software developers. The new feature was recently spotted in the latest WhatsApp for Desktop beta update, which is said to include three new formatting tools. These new tools will help users easily share and read codes on WhatsApp. These tools will also be available for Android and iOS users in the future. Recently, WhatsApp rolled out HD photo sharing feature for all users on the stable channel.
according to a Report WhatsApp is developing three new text formatting tools that will make it easy to read and share technical code on the platform, according to a report from WhatsApp development tracker WABetaInfo. The report suggests that a “code block” feature will be added to make technical code readable on WhatsApp. It helps software developers, programmers, and others share code snippets on applications.
At the same time, it is said that the “quote” function will also be included in this new toolset. Using this formatting tool, users will reportedly be able to quote specific messages or responses in chat. The report also said that this in-development quote text formatting tool will enable users to quote specific parts of text and reply directly, unlike the quote text feature currently available on the app.
A third tool is said to allow users to create lists of items in WhatsApp messages. The report also includes screenshots of the new formatting tools.
However, WhatsApp did not say when these features will be made available to all beta testers. Currently, these tools are in beta development. As with all features in development, the messaging platform could roll it out as part of a beta update before rolling it out to the stable channel, or it might drop the feature entirely.
WhatsApp recently rolled out HD photo sharing for all users. This will enable users to share high-quality and high-resolution images in WhatsApp chats on Android, iOS, WhatsApp Web, and desktop. Images sent in high definition will have a small “HD” icon. Additionally, Meta announced that it will soon support HD video.
