WhatsApp Rolls Out Redesigned Interface With New Colours to Beta Testers on Android

WhatsApp has finally started testing a revamped interface on Android, months after the company was spotted working on a redesigned version of the popular chat app. The new interface ditches WhatsApp’s signature green top bar in the main chat list and personal chats, replacing it with a white top bar. The new design also adheres to Google’s Material Design 3 guidelines and improves the look of the dark theme. As part of the latest beta update, WhatsApp has also added new “outline” icons for various buttons in the app.

The Gadgets 360 employee app has received a redesigned interface on the latest beta version (WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.21.12).After installing the latest beta, testers should start seeing the redesigned interface, which includes a white bar at the top, and WhatsApp Green text (stable versions of the app currently display the app’s name in white on a dark green background). With dark theme enabled, the top bar is now black and text appears in white.Whatsapp new interface redesign gadgets360 Whatsapp

WhatsApp has also tweaked the green accent color used in the light and dark themes of the app. As a result, floating action buttons and other parts of the interface with green accents, such as floating action buttons (FABs), appear brighter, especially when dark mode is turned on.

In addition to the new color tweaks on the Android app, WhatsApp has also replaced the physical icons for voice and video calls in personal chats and the camera icon on the main chat list with outlines of the existing icons. Last month, feature trackers discovered these icons on the WhatsApp Android beta version 2.23.20.10.

WhatsApp is also working on updating the color palette of its iOS app with new outline icons – the new design element was recently spotted in WhatsApp for iOS Beta 23.19.1.72. However, unlike the Android version, WhatsApp for iOS does not include a green top bar on the stable version of the app.

While the new interface doesn’t appear to be available to iOS beta testers yet, both mobile platforms are also expected to get support for new chat filters, such as all, unread, contact methodand group, which can make managing multiple chats easier. These filters, along with the redesigned interface, are expected to be rolled out to users via a stable pipeline in the coming months.
