Elon Musk, who recently renamed Twitter X, has introduced a new feature on the microblogging site to poke fun at people. On Friday, the billionaire posted a live video featuring some of X’s employees, which attracted 4.9 million subscribers. In another tweet, he shared the rollout of the live video feature. Users can use the blue camera logo to stream live clips. A day earlier, Musk announced another feature that now allows verified users to download videos from the platform, provided the content creator who posted the video allows it.
“Live video works pretty well now,” Musk posted on X, along with an image of the camera icon.
The announcement garnered more than 3.5 million views and more than 40,000 engagements in the first two hours after Musk posted it.
The development comes after Musk and his office team went live for 53 seconds on X last night. At the time, the billionaire hadn’t revealed anything about the upcoming feature.
In reply to one of the comments, Musk also said that the feature needs to be further refined.
A day earlier, Musk announced another new feature for the X, allowing users to download videos. However, only verified users can download these videos from content creators who allow them.
As part of an ongoing Twitter overhaul, Musk has taken over as X’s head of product and engineering.
On July 23, the billionaire tweeted about changing Twitter’s bluebird logo to a minimal X, along with its name and domain address. The change was soon reflected in the iOS, Android, and Web versions of X.
From monetizing verification tokens on X to rolling out more features almost every week, Musk is stepping up efforts to make X an “everything app.”
In July, Musk announced that the platform’s monthly active users had soared to a “new high,” hitting the 540 million mark.
