YouTube Music Rolling Out Live Lyrics Feature on Android, iOS

YouTube Music is always working to enhance the listening experience for users. The music streaming app is reportedly rolling out live lyrics to all users on Android and iOS. This is similar to the real-time lyrics available on Spotify when a user plays a song. First spotted in April, the feature on YouTube Music is reportedly rolling out to users broadly. However, live lyrics for all songs are not yet available.

9 to 5 Google Report YouTube Music is rolling out a live lyrics feature to users of the Android and iOS apps, it has been revealed. With the Live Lyrics feature, the lyrics that are playing will be highlighted in white, while the rest will be light gray. Gadgets360 has been able to independently verify functionality on the YouTube Music app.

To access live lyrics on YouTube Music, users can play any song with lyrics and go to the “Lyrics” tab in the “Now Playing” screen. The report also adds that Live Lyrics is rolling out to version 6.15 of YouTube Music on Android and version 6.16 on the iOS app. If users cannot access live lyrics, they can try to force close the app by swiping the app from the “recents” screen.

At the same time, it is also mentioned that the real-time lyrics function has not been activated for all songs. As a result, users may have to wait longer to access live lyrics to their favorite songs if they aren’t already available.

The feature was first spotted in April this year, after a previous Report Mentioned that Live Lyrics significantly increases text size and spacing compared to current static lyrics on YouTube Music.

To recall, Spotify’s Live Lyrics feature was previously launched in June 2020 in select countries including India. It will later expand to more markets by November 2021.
