Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III has just released a gameplay trailer–the title is a bit misleading, since most of the footage is filled with cutscenes. In fact, it focuses on the campaign, as Captain Price and his Task Force 141 take on ultra-nationalist Russian war criminal Vladimir Makarov as he expands his power around the world . Publisher Activision has introduced a new non-linear campaign structure called “Open Combat Missions,” memorable multiplayer maps, and a zombie mode in the open world. Pre-orders for the game are live now on all major platforms.

The new trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 kicks off the soft reboot trilogy, evoking memories of the Hunter-Killer mission in the 2011 original, where our team is submerged underwater, preparing to dive into enemy territory. While much of the action is presented in secret, Activision emphasizes that you’ll have a degree of freedom in how you decide how to complete your mission. In addition to the notoriously iconic linear structure of COD games, this new version introduces “Open Combat Missions,” which use open spaces to let players decide whether they want to conduct stealthy operations during lights-out and nighttime – vision goggles or firelights Soaring gun. There’s more freedom to experiment here–similar to a sandbox–as the game lets you replay missions with new approaches or loadouts.

Washington post. The game even carries over some of the choice-based dialogue options from previous entries, but it branches further so it reacts to the player’s decisions. When replaying a mission, if you happen to discover a new sublocation, it may also trigger the new voice. The addition of the new functionality is multiplayer sectionwhich brings back the 16 modernized maps from 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as well as larger-scale areas like the “Giant War Map.”

The beloved Zombies mode also returns on a larger scale, dropping you into an open world environment populated by the undead with escalating levels of difficulty. Given the size of the map, Modern Warfare 3 will, for the first time ever, let you team up with other squads in full-scale PvE battles. This means that multiple online squads will join forces to stop the zombie invasion. Other new features include the ability to un-swipe, so you can occasionally dodge enemy fire while maintaining momentum, and content carryover, which makes weapons and cosmetics unlocked in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II also available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
