Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Gameplay Reveal Trailer Showcases Sandbox-Like Campaign, ‘No Russian’ Mission

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III has just released a gameplay trailer–the title is a bit misleading, since most of the footage is filled with cutscenes. Publisher Activision has introduced a new non-linear campaign structure called “Open Combat Missions,” memorable multiplayer maps, and a zombie mode in the open world. Pre-orders for the game are live now on all major platforms.

The new trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 kicks off the soft reboot trilogy, evoking memories of the Hunter-Killer mission in the 2011 original, where our team is submerged underwater, preparing to dive into enemy territory. While much of the action is presented in secret, Activision emphasizes that you’ll have a degree of freedom in how you decide how to complete your mission. Given the size of the map, Modern Warfare 3 will, for the first time ever, let you team up with other squads in full-scale PvE battles. This means that multiple online squads will join forces to stop the zombie invasion. Other new features include the ability to un-swipe, so you can occasionally dodge enemy fire while maintaining momentum, and content carryover, which makes weapons and cosmetics unlocked in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II also available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
