Huawei Mate 60 Series May Offer Satellite Voice Calling Support Using PA Chips: Report

The Huawei Mate 60 series is expected to launch in the near future. The upcoming lineup is likely to succeed the Huawei Mate 50 series that will be released in September 2022. The Mate 50 series includes the Huawei Mate 50, Huawei Mate 50 Pro and Huawei Mate 50 RS Porsche Design. Huawei’s new Mate 60 series may also include base and Pro versions, although this has not been officially confirmed. Now, a new report has surfaced suggesting that the rumored Mate 60 series of phones may offer advanced satellite connectivity.

IT House Report It hints that the upcoming Huawei Mate 60 model may support satellite voice calls through the use of power amplifier chips. According to the report, these PA chips help boost the signal generated by the communication integrated circuit and feed it to the antenna. This method of amplification is necessary for successful satellite communications, including voice communications.

According to reports, the PA chip used in the rumored Huawei Mate 60 series was not developed by Huawei, but by an unnamed Chinese chipmaker. Although it has not been verified, if these chips are included, the Huawei Mate 60 phone may provide voice calls through a satellite connection without an Internet connection. It was previously reported that the upcoming lineup will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC codenamed SM8525.

The Huawei Mate X3 and Huawei P60 series, including the Huawei P60, Huawei P60 Pro and Huawei P60 Art models, are equipped with these PA chips, allowing users to exchange text messages via two-way satellite communications. Satellite connections for SOS calls are also supported on the iPhone 14 series, which uses the same technology.

A satellite connection is a radio link to other phones or phone networks, using satellites orbiting the Earth instead of terrestrial network signals. The technology is most useful in any remote area or any area outside of the ground coverage area. In addition to Apple, Samsung has also developed its own two-way satellite connection system.
