The iPhone 15 lineup — including the regular iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max — is expected to be officially unveiled on September 12 at Apple’s “Wonderlust” event. This year, the Pro model lineup in the latest iPhone 15 is expected to be more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro models. The increased cost can be attributed to the new titanium construction and improved camera hardware. On the other hand, the regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are said to be priced the same as the upcoming models.
according to a Report DigiTimes analyst Luke Lin said that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will see “substantial price increases” compared to their predecessors. The price increase may make up for some rumored hardware upgrades, such as a new titanium chassis upgraded from stainless steel and a periscope camera system on the iPhone 15 Pro Max that will enable up to 5-6x optical zoom. Additionally, Luke Lin said that pricing for the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models will remain similar.
If the price goes up, the iPhone 15 Pro Max could be the most expensive iPhone ever. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is currently the most expensive iPhone model on the market.
A combination of factors including a weakening global economy, persistent inflation, and consumers shifting budgets from buying consumer electronics to outdoor activities are expected to slow smartphone sales in the second half of 2023 compared to the same period in the past few years. However, holidays and promotional events will drive global smartphone shipments in the fourth quarter of this year, the report said.
Last year, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max started at $999 (roughly Rs. 79,555) and $1,099 (roughly Rs. 87,530). There’s no information yet on how much the price might go up, though an old report said the iPhone 15 Pro will be $100 (roughly Rs. 8,000) more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro, with a suggested starting price of $1,099 (roughly Rs. 87,530). In comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro Max could be $200 (roughly Rs. 16,000) more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, starting at $1,299 (roughly Rs. 1,06,800).
The regular iPhone 14 starts at $799 (roughly Rs. 63,700) and the iPhone 14 Plus starts at $899 (roughly Rs. 71,600).
Meanwhile, analyst Jeff Pu expects Apple to raise the price of the iPhone 15 Pro Max model as well. An earlier Bloomberg report also reiterated that the iPhone 15 could cost more than existing models. Apple is said to be planning to increase the prices of 2023 iPhone models to boost revenue.
