TF Securities International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the iPhone 16 Pro could come with a major camera upgrade that would only be available on Apple’s top model this year. While Apple equipped the iPhone 15 Pro Max with an improved periscope telephoto lens that supports 5x optical zoom, the smaller Pro model has a standard zoom lens similar to its predecessor that supports 3x optical zoom. The analyst previously claimed that the iPhone 15 Pro Max faces production challenges amid “strong demand.”
Guo predict In a new Medium blog post, the purported iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to feature Apple’s new “prism” telephoto zoom lens, unlike the iPhone 15 series, which only offers one model – iPhone 15 Pro Max – The upgraded telephoto lens provides up to 5x optical zoom with a focal length of 120mm.
At the “Wonderlust” launch event on September 12, Apple said that the 120 mm prism design will reflect light four times within the glass structure created inside the iPhone 15 Pro Max body. Apple managed to create longer focal lengths by putting enough distance between the camera sensor and the lens and allowing light to travel longer before being captured.
It’s worth noting, though, that Apple is also reportedly planning to replace its “Pro Max” models with new “Ultra” models, suggesting that the improved telephoto camera may be limited to the top-tier models to differentiate between the Pro and Pro Max. /Ultra model. Kuo said the company improved specifications to address CCM yield issues.
