Microsoft confirms more job cuts on top of 10,000 layoffs in January

Microsoft On Monday, a week into the start of the 2024 fiscal year, the company confirmed it would cut jobs.

A Microsoft spokesman declined to disclose the exact number of layoffs in the latest round. In January, CEO Satya Nadella issued a memo saying the company would change its hardware lineup and consolidate leasing.

Microsoft issued a notice on Monday saying it would cut 276 jobs in its home state of Washington. Of these, 66 are virtual.

Salespeople and customer success reps posted messages on social networks announcing they were out of a job.

“Organizational and workforce adjustments are a necessary and routine part of managing our business,” the spokesperson said in an email. “We will continue to prioritize and invest in future strategic growth areas and support our customers and partnerships partner.”
