Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 has been confirmed to be launched in China on August 14. The phone will debut as the successor to the Mix Fold 2 and Mi Mix Fold, and will be Xiaomi’s third foldable phone. The Chinese smartphone brand has also released official images showing off the full design of the Mix Fold 3. It features a Leica-branded quad-camera system on the rear. It also appears to have slightly curved corners. The Mi Mix Fold 3 will compete directly with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, the Honor Magic V Fold, and the Pixel Fold.
Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun Announce The Mi Mix Fold 3 will launch in China on August 14. The launch event will begin at 7:00 pm local time (4:30 pm IST), with Lei Jun delivering his annual speech sharing details about the company’s business. The slogan of the marketing poster is “Define a new standard for the second half of the folding screen”.
The brand has also released early renders on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, showing the design of the Mi Mix Fold 3 in both folded and unfolded modes from various angles. The renders show the phone in black and cream tones, with slightly curved corners and a slim design.
Compared to the Mi Mix Fold 2, the Mi Mix Fold 3 appears to feature a relatively large square camera module. It comes with a Leica-branded quad rear camera system along with an LED flash. In contrast, the predecessor has a triple rear camera unit.
According to past reports, the Mi Mix Fold 3 will feature an 8.02-inch full HD+ (1,080 x 2,400 pixels) inner display and a 6.5-inch cover. Both screens offer up to a 120Hz refresh rate. It is expected to run on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC paired with up to 16GB of LPDDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 built-in storage. It is expected to have a 4,800mAh battery with support for 50W or 67W wired fast charging.
The announcement of the Mi Mix Fold 3 comes a few weeks after Samsung unveiled two foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. Should the new Xiaomi foldable be sold in markets outside of China, expect this to create competition in the foldable space.
